• The pitching staff (not counting Lilly) already seems to have 11 of 12 spots accounted for, with Carlos Zambrano, Ryan Dempster, Randy Wells, Carlos Silva, Tom Gorzelanny, Sean Marshall, Jeff Samardzija, Carlos Marmol, Angel Guzman, John Grabow and the TBA new guy — leaving the last spot for a young guy such as lefty John Gaub, righty Esmailin Caridad, newly acquired righty Jeff Gray or Rule 5 righty Mike Parisi.
